[Update: 4 September 2024]

In August 2024, WHO declared a public health emergency of international concern due to the rapid emergence of a new Mpox strain, Clade 1b.

While Clade 1b outbreaks are largely confined within Africa, two cases were detected in Sweden and Thailand. There are currently no known cases of local transmission in these two countries.

SINGAPORE UPDATE

All 13 local confirmed cases of Mpox in 2024 have been the less severe Clade 2 infections. Mpox vaccines are currently not available for the general public in Singapore.
