Getting your PrEP online
If HIV is going to get inside the cells, it does so quickly; it takes about 30 minutes. However, it does not start to multiply for several hours. PrEP and PEP work by stopping this process. Without drug, HIV infection is established within a few days so it’s a big advantage to have drug in the tissues BEFORE a risk, but it is needed most in the few days AFTER the risk.

But, for me, the real concern is medication adherence. Luckily I never developed a resistance to any ARVs I was on, but it’s so easy to create a resistant strain of the virus by not taking your medication every day. So a guy who’s not taking care of himself could be putting his partners at risk because his viral load is not suppressed even though he might think it is.
